Meet Vielka and Cesar Flores

Food has always been central to our lives. We’re both originally from Central America - Cesar from Guatemala and Vielka from Panama - where much of our culture revolves around the cooking and conversations that happen in the kitchen.

After we opened our first restaurant in Guatemala back in 2023, which Cesar’s family now runs, we began to dream about opening a restaurant here in Lancaster City.

Every time we wanted to get Central American food, we had to leave Lancaster to get it. There was nothing quite like our food here.

We thought, “Why not open another restaurant here in Lancaster so we can share our food with our neighbors?” So we started Nahual Maya here in Lancaster in spring 2024.

The difference is in the special spices and seasonings from each country - Guatemala, Panama, Honduras, and El Salvador. Our food has a very solid Mayan background, with a lot of flavors from ancient traditions.

We are so thrilled to be able to share our food and culture with our community. It really is an amazing opportunity to be part of Downtown Lancaster! The food, the music, the energy, the culture, the experience, the vibe, the art, the mutual experiences when meeting for the first time… it’s pure magic!
